MISSION AREAS
Even though the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode was created in 1969, more than 50 years ago, a large percentage of the population area is still considered as a mission territory. This is because the parish or locality is insufficient to take care of a priest and carry out sustainable projects on their own without recourse to the center.
In these mission areas, we usually have cluster of churches coming together to form one parish. Most of these churches are settlements with petty traders and farmers who are mostly incapable of training their Children in school. As such, even the children will have to follow their parents to the farms.
The Diocese is divided into seven (7) deaneries and four (4) among them are considered mission areas. A lot of work goes on in these mission areas of the Diocese and they include:
